Rates and more information... |
Witness the origin of the American game of baseball, located on the large parade ground behind Fort Mackinac where the Fort Mackinac Never Sweats and the Rochester Grangers face off in an exciting game of vintage baseball.
The rules of vintage base ball are different than modern ball games. This vintage game, which is not a re-enactment but an actual, competitive sporting event, is “base ball” (yes, written in two words) as it was played in the United States during the beginning of its popularity in the 1860s after the Civil War. With these “new” rules, the game becomes unique. There are no gloves allowed here, folks, and no sliding either, but a ball caught on one bounce is an out. Most importantly, vintage base ball returns the game to its original status as a “gentlemanly sport.”
